How an Indian soldier came to Adelboden during the Second World War.

A photo of an Indian soldier against the backdrop of Adelboden's mountains - to a historian, that seems strange. This time slice traces the story of Harbakhash Singh. He who, as an Indian soldier, stands in the shadow of the rich Americans who remained in Adelboden in lasting memory. During the Second World War, over 100,000 army personnel from all over the world were interned in Switzerland. Most famous are the Poles and the Americans. The latter left lasting memories in Adelboden. The discovery of a photo of an Indian soldier in the local archives seems extraordinary. Nobody can really remember Indian soldiers. Thomas Schmid, who discovered the photo, can't really make sense of it either. This time slideshow follows the trail of the Indian corporal.
