Switzerland was neutral throughout the Second World War and had to contend with numerous border violations in its airspace caused by fighters and bombers of both sides, Allied and Axis. Swiss fighter planes tried to escort the fighter planes and bombers that had penetrated Swiss airspace to land, which was usually successful, and the crews were interned.
