Forgotten WWII POWs Finally Honored part I

During the Second World War, some American airmen held in prisoner-of-war camps in Switzerland considered cowards who had landed there to escape the fighting. Had it not been for the grandson of a prisoner of war, the actions of the airmen might never have been recognized.

Pilot: 1h. Lt. George W. Mears, (Grandfather of Major Dwight Mears), B-17G, Serial No. 42-37825, Nickname: Super Ball, Landed: Dübendorf Switzerland March 18, 1944, 8th Airforece, 351st Bomb Group, 511th Squadron.

Bombadier: 2nd Lt. Jammes I. Misuraca
B-24J, serial number 42-110098, nickname The Flying Sac, Landed: Downtown Switzerland April 24th, 1944, 8th Air Force, 448 Bomb Group, 715th Squadron.
