The B-24 took off from Wendling in England with the mission to bomb Friedrichshafen in Germany, after the bombing of Friedrichshafen pilot 1Lt William A. Kala left the formation with loss of oil pressure in engine No.1, the propeller was brought into gliding position, direction Switzerland, where he made an emergency landing in Dübendorf, the aircraft was later scrapped in Switzerland.
