A potato field became the runway for this bomber

The bomber «Battle Queen – Peg of my Heart», which had been heavily shot at above Germany, carried out an emergency landing in the outskirts of Utzenstorf in August, 1943.

Someone who’s particularly interested in this is Rolf Zaugg. He runs the private B-17 Museum, and has been keeping in contact with veterans and the descendants of crews of the bombers and fighter jets.
Rolf Zaugg exhibits files, clothes and other possessions of the plane crews that surfaced after the War. Everything in his collection is original.
